From May 1 to May 3 lace up for the 2015 Long Island Marathon! There’s everything from a pasta party to a post-race festival. All weekend long you will see runners all around Nassau Community College to Museum Row. Participants have been training for months for the 26.2 mile run, but there’s plenty more happening throughout that weekend. Get some friends together or bring the family to cheer on your fellow Long Islanders as they run. Long Island Marathon Activities The Long Island Marathon began in the 1970s, and for over 40 years participants have been travelling far and wide for this event. The marathon started off as a 26.2 mile run, but soon expanded to a number of runs and races. Now everyone of all ages are involved in the weekend event! Here’s what to expect: Each race or run will award all finishing participants with finisher medals. Top 3 overall awards will be given to overall male, female and wheelchair for the 1 Mile Run, 5K Race, 10K Race, Half Marathon and Full Marathon. What’s better than a week dedicated to delicious food? Nothing! Long Island Restaurant Week is almost here and some of the best restaurants on the island are participating. Restaurant Week is all over the country, but from April 26 to May 3, 2015, it’s all about Long Island. It is a bi-annual event taking place in the spring and fall and this spring’s week is supposed to be great! Participating restaurants offer three course prix fixe dinners for just $27.95 per person from Sunday to Sunday. On Saturday, May 2, restaurants may only offer the prix fixe menu until 7 pm. No matter where you are, you can find Long Island Restaurant Week restaurants in Nassau and Suffolk County all the way out to the East End.
